The Chicago Cubs will call up their top prospect, Willson Contreras, from Triple-A in Iowa.

Contreras was on a tear in the minors. The 24-year-old Venezuelan catcher was hitting .350 with 43 RBIs in just 54 games for Iowa. High offensive performances are nothing new to Contreras. Last year he posted a .333 BA which rewarded him with the batting title for the Double-A Southern League.
The Cubs plan to send Tim Federowicz down to the minors in order to fit Contreras onto the roster. With Miguel Montero and David Ross behind the dish for the Cubs, we may see a three-man battle for the position as the Cubs intend to use Contreras.
Contreras only adds to the young and upcoming talent that the Cubs have. Kris Bryant, Anthony Rizzo, Javier Baez, Jorge Soler, and now Contreras — the Cubs are making a statement to the rest of the league letting them know that a dynasty may be in the making..
Contreras will see his first action with the Cubs this weekend as his club hosts the Pirates.
