Anna HS

Clutch Athletics 15U defeated Dallas Tigers 16U Peterson, 16-6, in Game 1 from Anna HS. Clutch Athletics' Braden Olson went 3-3 with one double, two runs batted in, and two runs scored and was named player of the game (check him in action below). Also for Clutch, Parker Guerin went 1-3 with a double and three runs batted in. Other notable hitting performances came from Tigers' Ryan Hull (2-3 with one double, one RBI, and two runs scored), Brendan Woods (2-3 with two runs batted in and two runs scored), and Jason Fitzpatrick (2-2 with one RBI).

Dallas Tigers 17U Durham defeated C3 Futures 17U Capps, 5-3, in Game 2 from Anna HS. Bryson Hudgens pitched three innings allowing just two hits and one earned run while striking out five hitters. Hudgens also touched 91 MPH (see below) on the radar gun and was named player of the game. Steven Pruett went 2-3 with one double, one run scored, and one stolen base and was named hitter of the game.

Houston Athletics 16U Everett defeated LBA 16U Walker, 12-3, in Game 3 from Anna HS. Jason Brown allowed zero hits and zero runs over four innings pitched. Brown also recorded six strikeouts and was named player of the game. Hayde Key (see below) went 2-4 with one triple, three runs batted in, and one run scored and was named hitter of the game. Matthew Thompson (2-4 with two runs batted in and two runs scored), Cooper Timmons (2-3 with two runs batted in and two runs scored), and Alexander Olivo (2-3 with one double, one RBI, and one run scored) also contributed at the plate in the win.

Game 4 from Anna HS was a pitcher's duel between Team Rawlings Moulton and Houston Athletics 17U Santiago as the battle ended in a 1-1 tie. For Team Rawlings, Anderson Needham threw 6.1 one-hit innings and struck out 10. Anderson used a fastball, ranging from upper 80s and touching 90-91 MPH in the first inning, to get ahead in the account. And he struck batters out using a variety of pitches including a dirty slider. For the Athletics, John Nork threw six innings and struck out eight while giving up three hits. The lefty had a strong 12-6 curveball (see below) going that became deceiving as he hid it out of his release point with the fastball. Both pitchers were named players of the game for their strong performances.

John Paul II HS

Dallas Tigers 16U Ahearne scored four runs in the bottom of the seventh to defeat Marucci Elite Texas 15U Carroll, 6-5, in Game 1 from John Paul II HS. Bryan Terry went 2-4 including a three-run walk-off double (see below) and was named player of the game. Other solid performers were Dakotah Mote (2-3 with two runs scored and two stolen bases) and Brandon Sliwinski (2-4 with three runs batted in). Garrett Gray had a solid outing on the mound allowing zero hits over 3.1 scoreless innings while recording two strikeouts.

Hit King Baseball Academy 17U defeated Cajun Cayenne Baseball 17U, 9-1, in Game 2 from John Paul II HS. Christian McCoy allowed just one run and struck out seven hitters in seven innings pitched and was named player of the game. Andrew Skivington went 2-4 with one RBI and one run scored and was named hitter of the game. Noah Havard went 2-3 with one RBI and one run scored.

AS Sundevils 15U Sumbler just snuck by C3 Futures 15U Van Poppel, 3-2, in Game 3 from John Paul II. For the Sundevils, Laki Ellis went 1-3 with an RBI triple that tied the game in the top of the 5th. Gabriel Vasquez went 2-3 with two runs scored and one stolen base. Cade Sumbler had a solid game behind the plate catching two runners trying to steal. And on the mound, Campbell Sullivan threw 6.1 innings and struck out eight. Watch him talk about the victory in the video embedded below. Sullivan was named player of the game.
